Prequalifying For A Home Mortgage Loan
Since the inception of this country people have given their lives in order to migrate and fight for the right to pursue the American dream. The American Dream is pursuing happiness, success and opportunity, which includes the ability to buy a house for oneself. The first step today when a person is interested in buying a home or piece of property is to get pre-qualified for a loan in order to buy it. This is because most people do not have enough cash to pay for the property outright which means they must borrow it.

Everyone that is thinking about getting pre-qualified for a loan should look around to see which companies offer the best mortgage rates. Each company will have similar basic requirements that each applicant must meet in order to qualify.

These requirements typically include proof of current income with approximately two years of employment history and a list of other financial obligations. This means they need to have copies of the most recent pay stubs and bank statements for checking or savings accounts for the last couple of months for each applicant. If the applicant has any other outstanding loans then they will need to provide documentation showing how much is owed and what the monthly payments are.

The loan department typically requires proof of citizenship and residency along with three personal references. Most of them require originals of the documents which are provided so they can authenticate and copy them before returning them to the applicants.

This information is used by the financial institution to determine how much the applicant can afford to repay on a new loan and how much they should loan them towards buying a home.

Typically the applicant must be willing to allow the loan officer to pull their credit report. This information is used in conjunction with other data to help them determine how reliable the applicant is at paying off their debts. If the applicant has a good credit history, then the financial institution will typically offer cheaper home mortgage rates to them. This affects how much the payments are for the loan and what the overall cost is for the credit they get.

If the person meets these basic qualifications, then they can move to the next step of finding the home they want to purchase. Once they find the home they want, they can make a contract offer for the property with a real estate agent. Then, if their offer is accepted, they may be required to put money into an escrow account. This money is then used to cover closing cost and any down payment that may be needed to buy the property.
