Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
I don't have a typical customer, from first-time buyers to VA to refinance I see them all, which is great it keeps me on my toes. The most common questions I get asked are "what's your lowest rate" and "how much home do I qualify for"?
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
I get to know my customers, what's important to them in a home, financially where they want to be in the future, if they plan to keep the home for a long period of time or is this a starter home. The more I know about my customer and their situation the better I can serve their needs. Once I have an understanding of their needs, I will recommend to continue the process by completing our application. Once the application is complete and I have the supporting documents from my customer I will give them multiple options and explain the benefits or disadvantages of each.
What resources could you recommend that borrowers use to learn more about the mortgage process and how to ensure a successful home closing?
I'm here to educate and answer any questions my borrowers may have, if I can't I will always find the answer. Another great option, Guaranteed Rate has put together a plethora of information all on our website under the "Knowledge Center" at rate.com. Their borrowers will find anything they want to know about the mortgage process, home ownership, and a successful closing.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
I enjoy advising and looking out for my customers. It's not too often that a customer doesn't become a friend of mine and part of my family. I am a customer advocate, there's no better feeling to me than delivering on my promises and helping someone achieve the dream of homeownership.
