How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I have been in the mortgage industry for seven years now. I was inspired to enter knowing that the Industry would recover and that people would still want to buy homes and refinance their current ones.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
Whether it's the first time home buyer or the seasoned home owner, I like to point out the APR to them. In addition, I like to explain a few other economic concepts and principles such as Time Value of Money theory and opportunity cost so they can best understand the impact of their home purchase and loan decision on their budget both today and in the future.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
Make sure you are comfortable working with your lender and your agent--they should be your trusted industry professionals. Listen and follow their advice so you don't have a bad experience.
What resources could you recommend that borrowers use to learn more about the mortgage process and how to ensure a successful home closing?
The Guaranteed Rate, Inc. Welcome Home packet is an awesome pamphlet that highlights the process so you will know what to expect from my team.
What can borrowers do to ensure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
A borrower can be best prepared at application time with complete and accurate dates of employment and rental history. Once under application they can review the required document checklist and provide complete and thorough evidence that supports and proves your income and assets. Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
My favorite movie is Monty Python and the Holy Grail and I think I can recite just about every scene.....as long as you bring me a shrubbery--and one that looks nice.....and not too expensive.
