Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
I don't have a typical customer per say. I work with all different buyers with the same goal, to walk away from the deal with a satisfied customer.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
After gathering all of the information needed from the customer, I research which loan products would be most beneficial to them. I then present the different options to the customer, we discuss which loan product fit best and move to the application process.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
A lot of borrowers believe they will need at least 20% down on a home to qualify. The reality is you could qualify for a home with no money down or as little as 3% down. Another misconception is that your credit needs to be perfect. Credit is a large factor when applying for a loan, but we offer many different loan types to fit the needs of the client. A lot of people believe when buying a home the buyer can save money by not using a real estate agent. This is false, the seller almost always pays the realtors commission. Your loan officer and real estate agent should be a team, getting you to the closing table as smoothly as possible.
What resources could you recommend that borrowers use to learn more about the mortgage process and how to ensure a successful home closing?
Taking a homeownership counseling class can teach a first time homebuyer a lot of great tips for their first purchase. Your loan officer is a definite great resource for any questions or concerns.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
Customer Satisfaction. It's a great feeling when the customer finds their perfect home and get the keys in their hands on closing day!
