Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
I haven't met a "typical customer" yet and I don't know that they even exist LOL! As for the questions my clients have, generally speaking they just want to understand how the mortgage qualification process works, and to know that it isn't as nerve-wracking as popular perception sometimes claims it is.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
At the end of the day, the key to understanding the best home loan for a client comes down to understanding what they are trying to achieve, this HAS to be the first step in initiating a loan, whether for a purchase or a refinance. Once I understand WHAT they want to achieve, I can focus on HOW to help them achieve that!
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
1. That they cannot become a homeowner if they don't have a HUGE amount of money to apply to their purchase.
2. That it is inherently a tedious, time consuming process.
3. That owning a home is a huge responsibility with little reward, when the exact opposite is true!!
What resources could you recommend that borrowers use to learn more about the mortgage process and how to ensure a successful home closing?
Me... I'd recommend they use me, that's what I'm here for. I am a HUGE proponent of discussing your life plans with friends and family, but for the technical aspects of the lending process, rely on those who work in the industry every day.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
Hands down, the best part of this job is watching someone's doubt and confusion turn into optimistic excitement as they realize that yes, they can be a homeowner and yes, in many cases their dream is much closer than they realized!
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
I'm lucky to have my parents living close by, so I go to see them often, to help around the house and join them for Sunday dinner. In between Sunday dinners I take advantage of all that Colorado has to offer, including the miles of hiking and biking trails, the 300+ days of sunshine every year, and the opportunity to hit the slopes every chance I get... I LOVE Colorado, especially in the winter!
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
If it's Halloween and I'm dressing up, it's going to be as a superhero!!
