How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I started in the mortgage business back in 2005. I was always interested in real estate and had a finance background so it seemed like a natural fit.
Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
No such thing, every client and their specific loan scenario is different. My clients range from first time homebuyers to seasoned investors with multiple properties.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
I take the time to find out how long my clients are looking to stay in their new home, get an idea of a monthly payment range, and how much they are looking to put down. All of these and a number of other factors will help me determine loan options available.
How long have you been in the mortgage business? What awards have you won?
I have been in the mortgage business for 11 years. I have been recognized for being in the Top 1% of Mortgage Originators in America (2012-2016). I have also been a member of Guaranteed Rate's President's Club since 2010.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
Take the time to speak to a qualified mortgage professional to get pre-approved before you even start to look at homes. Buying a home can be an emotional process and there is nothing worse than finding and falling in love with a home only to find out you can't qualify to buy it.
How has the mortgage industry changed since you started, and what would you expect in the future?
NMLS and Dodd Frank and the vanishing of Subprime and Alt-A products.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
Nobody is lending. The process is cumbersome. It takes forever!
What can borrowers do to ensure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
Make sure you get everything requested to your lender right away. Meaning if we request 5 items, send all 5, none of them will go away. Also send requested docs to your lender quickly as this will prevent delays and scrambling at the 11th hour.
Are you active in any local associations or community groups, and at what level? What goals and/or success have you helped these groups achieve?
BNI - Northbrook Chaper President
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
What satisfies me the most as a loan officer is when a client comes to me after they have been declined at another lender and we get them approved and closed. While every deal may not be approvable, we are really good at getting tough deals done.
