My introduction to the world of mortgages came in 2013. For close to two years I was an employee of Dovenmuehle Mortgage Inc., and served as a member of the customer service team. Being part of a third party sub-servicing entity like "DMI" allowed me to gain insight as to what the processing and servicing stages of mortgage lending entail. Most importantly, working at that position was an opportunity to gain exposure to how a multitude of mortgage lenders and investors alike, Guaranteed Rate included, conduct business in the mortgage world.
I quickly earned the respect of my peers and managers and was assigned to manage the "Welcome Call Project." This, very simply put, was a team of 5 elite customer service specialists assigned to be the first voice, the first point of contact for all new customers. Making a great first impression is colossal in beginning a healthy and transparent business relationship and only the most trusted and well skilled were invited to be part of this team.
During my tenure with DMI, I had the opportunity to not only absorb oodles of knowledge on what to do, but also what not to do. Customers would call in with complaints in reference to how their mortgage loan had been set up and all too often, the loan officers were to blame. One company however, through the entirety of my tenure with DMI, never seemed to have shade thrown at their name… Guaranteed Rate.
I graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, a minor in Economics, & a 3.0 cumulative GPA. My area of specialty, and the path I chose to follow within the marketing program at NIU, was Professional Sales and I received a certificate for completing this rigorous crash course. Working for Dovenmuehle gave me a foot in the door in establishing what would be my career as a Mortgage Loan Officer.
There came a point in my days with DMI, when I realized I was ready for more responsibility, more challenging work, & a position that allowed me to use my talents more fitting. I wanted to combine my natural and seasoned skills of customer relations and sales into a profession that would not only allow me to be successful, but most importantly help improve the lives of others. Having seen the issues first hand of mistakes made by the loan officers and realizing that I know how to avoid those issues… it clicked! I want to do this, I can do this, & I believe I can do it better than those before me.
Making the move to Guaranteed Rate has been a breath of fresh air and I am confident without second thought that this has been the most rewarding professional experience I could have asked for. How lucky am I, that everyday I get to use my abilities to help secure individuals and their families with the financing they need to own and/or refinance their homes? Each day has purpose, no two are the same, and each challenge allows an opportunity for growth. I truly wish that everybody could feel the way I do about their profession and the company they work for. I am thankful to be where I am today and look forward to what the future entails for all of us here at Guaranteed Rate and to all those who put their trust in us.
