Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
There is nothing typical about my clients, I 'd rather not label my clients. Here is why, I enjoy working with everyone, there is a "Motto" where I am from that we live by; (Out of many one people we are one). Therefore anyone who is in need of a mortgage and I can extend my services I'll do my best to facilitate them.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
I generally exhaust all loan options, especially for the First Time Home buyers as I should. In most conversations, the clients are always concern about getting the lowest rate, but until I know a little bit more about that individual then I'll best be able to provide the right loan product that suit their needs.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
1) You need perfect credit to obtain a mortgage, so not true
2) The process is too long
3) Why do I have to put money down, my friend didn't and she bought home a month ago. Unfortunately no two people are alike and everyone's scenario is different.
What resources could you recommend that borrowers use to learn more about the mortgage process and how to ensure a successful home closing?
Please, do yourself a favor and attend First Time Home Buyers classes, seminars and utilize the internet. The bottom line is, do your homework, not just what your friends and family tells you. Just remember their experience will never be your own, you will have your own Cinderella story or sorry;horror story, just being honest.
Oh always, utilize the referral source your agent, friend or colleague gives you. They only give you the name of that individual because they have worked with them before.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
Oh that's easy, hearing the excitements on the phone when i call and tell a client, congratulations your loan is Clear to Close. Man, this gives me so much joy. I once had a client who told me I couldn't help her because she had a bankruptcy 2 years ago at the time when she called me. Oh man did she get the shock of her life when I told her congratulations you are pre-approved, she cried and I got the chills. It's such a pity I am unable to say her name, in fact it's been about 7 years and we still do stay in touch. In fact I was able to provide a mortgage to one of her daughters' and the other is a realtor that I work with.

What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
I appreciate that question, because I smile when I read it, my family, my sons. I am soccer dad and on weekends that's all I do, driving around from State to State. But I also would like to add, spending time with my wife, whenever we do go out to an event, we let our hair down. Ha!
