Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
It's hard to call anyone a "typical customer" in this business because everybody's needs are unique to their situation. That being said, I do work with a lot of first time home buyers and they have a lot of questions, rightfully so. Some of the questions I typically hear are; What's the difference between closing costs and down payment? What is an escrow account exactly? Can you explain PMI, please? I enjoy the opportunity to explain these things to people and help them gain valuable insight into their home financing.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
It all starts with having a conversation. It's imperative to ask the right questions to find the right answers. Once we've had that discussion I will proceed with a full application. Once I have the application, I can see what amount they qualify for and will then shop over 30 investors that we work with to get them the best loan possible. That is why I always recommend submitting a mortgage application before ever shopping for a home.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
The most satisfying part of my job is getting a client into their new home quickly with little stress. The type of deal where everyone involved leaves happy. A close second is helping somebody with an important refinance that will help them eliminate bad debt or help get them back on their feet financially. At the end of the day, I get the most satisfaction from helping people.
