How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I’ve been in the mortgage business for 8 years, but sales much longer. Before mortgages, I was a business development manager in the medical equipment industry. When I decided I needed a new challenge, I remembered the issues I had when my wife and I bought our first home. Customer service is a passion of mine, so I knew I could do better. I strive to ensure my customers have a positive experience when making the biggest investment of their lifetime – buying a home or investment property.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
Seek the advice of a professional sooner, rather than later. Find a loan officer, realtor and attorney who are knowledgeable, helpful and committed to client satisfaction. You should feel comfortable asking questions.
Make sure you are preapproved BEFORE you look for your dream home. This will allow you to shop for a home you know you can afford. More importantly, it puts you in a better negotiating position. Guaranteed Rate’s Red Arrow Approval Express offers the most dependable preapproval in the market because your loan is underwritten even before you find a property. This means no surprises once you have a contract.
What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
Clients are frustrated when they don’t understand the process. Communicating proper expectations is key. I make sure to provide complete and accurate information in a timely manner. There is no runaround and I won’t disappear after your loan closes. I make sure my clients know I am available to answer questions any time. My goal is to be their mortgage financing advisor for life.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
I enjoy boating with family and friends. Although, when I’m not with my family, you can find me renovating a home or building something. I love creating or repairing with my own two hands.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
I surprise many people with my ability to remember people’s names.
