How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I like working with numbers along with the consulting aspect of the mortgage business.
Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
I work with first time home buyers to the experienced home owner that is self employed. I review the loan process and what to expect since that is such a dynamic process. I find that helps reduce the anxiety a buyer may have as well as answering questions that they may not have thought about asking.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
By asking questions about their finances along with their goals I can find a loan program that best matches their needs.
How long have you been in the mortgage business? What awards have you won?
I have been in the business since April of 1996. I have been recognized for top producer in my office several times.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
Based on the affordability index it is a great time to purchase. Rates are at an all time low and home prices are down greatly compared to where they were 5 years ago.
How has the mortgage industry changed since you started, and what would you expect in the future?
The mortgage industry is constantly evolving and will continue to do so. There are so many factors that influence our industry which is what keeps it interesting. I believe things will continue to improve for the consumer but in a much more cautious way.
What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
Most customers find gathering all of the requirement paperwork most difficult. I explain to them the current guidelines and try to prepare them for the paper mill that will produce
What can borrowers do to ensure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
Communicate any changes to financial situations immediately and ask questions before moving money around or establishing any new credit.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
Speaking with borrowers to determine best loan program to meet their needs and closing the loan early or on time.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
I can probably be found riding / racing my bike when not helping people with their home loans. It is a passion of labor for me which is rewarding physically and mentally.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
Being a former business owner I actually enjoy the complex borrower that has personal and business returns most loan originators shy away from.
