Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
A good percentage of my borrowers are first-time home-buyers. The typical question is "what is the max that I can buy?" How do I get the best rate? How much should I save for a down payment and how much do I need to have in the bank for reserves?
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
My financial consulting background lends me to always identify the borrowers needs and goals first; then to identify any obstacles in achieving their goals. This will help to identify which loan will best suit their needs.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
1. That you have to put 20% down to buy a home. 2. That you can only buy a home if your credit scores are 700, 3. That you have to be at the same job with the same company for two years.
What resources could you recommend that borrowers use to learn more about the mortgage process and how to ensure a successful home closing?
I give all of our borrowers a flow chart identifying each step of the process and I recommend that they keep it on their refrigerator. So, when we give them their Tuesday update call, they know to go and circle the milestone that has been reached. I love making the loan process fun and less stressful.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
The most satisfaction that I get is when the loan has been cleared-to-close, and I'm at the closing table with the borrowers congratulating them on their new chapter in their lives. It's an amazing feeling, sometimes a little overwhelming, but a very happy one.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
I love spending time with my children and grandchildren. I workout at the gym a lot, especially power-lifting and weight training. We just got a F1 English Cream Golden Doodle that we named Bronson. He's such a cutie, and such a wonderful addition to our family.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
Good question! I use to play a mean alto-saxophone throughout middle and high school, including college, and in a German band after college. I was 1st chair most of the time. And, I use to run track in high school and in college...all 4'10" of me. Did I say that I was competitive?
