How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I have been in the mortgage industry since 1997
Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
Conventional, FHA, VA and Jumbo
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
Utilizing my BA and MA in International Development I am very comfortable asking questions to learn more about the customers I am working with.
How long have you been in the mortgage business? What awards have you won?
How has the mortgage industry changed since you started, and what would you expect in the future?
When I started, we used paper, pen and a copy machine to start and process a loan. We had to document each borrower's financial situation in a pretty similar fashion to how we do things today. However we had to make 2 copies of the entire file and it was not fun! The only folks who seem to be challenged with today's process are those who were first time buyer's during the early 2000's and obtained a low-doc and NINA loan. Many of my buyers feel today's process is very similar to the way it was years ago. The big difference is in our technology and our ability to start the process with a Cell phone and electronic signatures. I can now preapprove a customer from anywhere in the world ensuring they will get their offer in minutes after they reach out to me for a preapproval. That was not possible in the 90's.
What resources could you recommend that borrowers use to learn more about the mortgage process and how to ensure a successful home closing?
What can borrowers do to ensure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
It is very important that Buyers follow my suggestions and understand that their participation is vital to the process going smoothly.
