Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
I don't believe that there is a mold for a "typical" customer. Everyone has different needs, goals, and challenges which makes my job interesting and fun, never a dull moment! The trick is to listen to the clients to find out what’s important to them so I can provide financing options that work best for their unique situation.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
1) 20% down payment to avoid private mortgage insurance. There are the most competitive mortgage options available ever now with private mortgage insurance providing excellent premiums and products with as little as 3% down payment with no monthly PMI.
2) Mortgage rates don’t change or they are doing well when the stock market is doing well. The mortgage rates change all day every day, just like stocks and typically are doing the opposite of the stock market.
3) That they need excellent credit to buy a home. There are several excellent options even if credit scores have some blemishes.
