Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
After being in the business for over 25 years, my typical client is one who is either up-sizing or down-sizing their home and in some cases buying their second home. We generally talk about what will fit into their financial profile and what product would be best for them. Even though I am a long time Originator, I still love to work with 1st time homebuyers....nothing better than seeing a first time homebuyer be handed their first set of keys!
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
I will first ask several questions to help them determine where they are at financially and what they would be comfortable with in making a house payment. We will then move on to products/programs to see what will fit their needs and keep them within qualifying guidelines.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
I believe the 3 top misconceptions would be that you need a bunch of down payment money to get into a home, perfect credit and that you have to be at the same employer for 2 years.
What resources could you recommend that borrowers use to learn more about the mortgage process and how to ensure a successful home closing?
I would send them to my website that is full of information and links to gather all kinds of knowledge. I also consider myself a good resource and would be happy to sit down with them anytime to discuss the mortgage process.
Are you active in any local associations or community groups, and at what level? What goals and/or success have you helped these groups achieve?
MEMBER OF CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, HELP WITH HABITAT FOR HUMANITIES AND MEMBER OF THE HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION. LEADERS CLUB MEMBER FOR 16 YEARS IN A ROW WITH PREVIOUS EMPLOYER.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
The best satisfaction is seeing the big smiles and sometimes tears when a homebuyer is handed their keys. I also love the challenge of figuring files out and coming up with good solutions to get them approved.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
TRAVELING, HIKING, BIKING, BACKPACKING, AND KAYAKING.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
I am not sure if it unique because many of us Originators probably do this but I can wake up in the middle of the night out of the blue with a solution to a file.
