Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
I get a good mix of first time & repeat homebuyers. First time homebuyers' questions are usually focused more on finding the right product/program & on how the process works. Repeat buyers are usually most interested in what has changed since their last purchase & how that impacts them.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
Taking time during that initial meeting or conversation. I ask a lot of questions to make sure I understand their entire financial picture looks like & what their goals are.
What resources could you recommend that borrowers use to learn more about the mortgage process and how to ensure a successful home closing?
Honestly none. Just me! There are so many misconceptions about the home loan process. With forever changing rules & regulations, it is my job to make sure you are equipped with all the relevant mortgage information that can impact you in your goal of home ownership.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
Oh, there are so many feel goods! Nailing it down to my top three: (1) Helping a buyer that never thought home ownership was possible, maybe because they were turned down before (2) Starting off an initial meeting with a very nervous/anxious borrower & leaving that same meeting with a client who is visibly relaxed and has a confident demeanor about the process that we just started. The mortgage process can be stressful! But I take great pride in making it feel so much easier for them. And last but definitely not least (3). When my clients (especially first-time homebuyers) get their keys at the closing table. Witnessing their excitement is by far the most rewarding part of my job!
