Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
My typical customer varies from a seasoned veteran purchasing their retirement home to my first time home buyers. Questions will come in the form of what they qualify for in a home mortgage to what makes up a typical monthly mortgage payment inclusive of principal & interest, property taxes, homeowners insurance and mortgage insurance where applicable. Consumers also like to know the difference between adjustable rate mortgage payment and fixed rate mortgage payments.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
I ask the customer about their income, savings for a down payment, current rent payment if applicable and their credit scores. I inquire as to the length of time they plan on owning the home and that helps me to best provide the loan products that will best suit their financial picture.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
Consumers typically have a mis-conception that the loan process is challenging, costly and loans rarely close on time. I meet with them at application to answer all of their questions and tell them how I work and I find that educating them upfront and over-communicating throughout the process keeps them informed and comfortable.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
For the last 17 plus years I have worked with my clients from the start of the application to the closing date answering any and all questions. I receive great enjoyment in seeing my clients realize their dream of owning a home and being with them every step of the way.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
I enjoy spending time at my family home in Green Lake, WI. My hobbies include boating, snowmobiling, water skiing and snow skiing.
