What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
My first steps involve listening to a client and understanding their goals when it comes to their financial situation. It could be that they have a long-term goal that may rely on the outcome of the loan product that is selected. As a professional, I try to assist the client in seeing the pros and cons of each program so that they can make the best-informed decision.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
Many people have heard of poor experiences that a friend or family member may have had with the loan process. As a result, they become reluctant to move forward. What they may not know is that everyone's situation is different and there may be other factors that won't apply to you. Additionally, many people misconceive that there are no down payment assistance programs available or that certain types of loans don't exist. Here at Guaranteed Rate, we have access to many programs and products that could assist anyone. Lastly, many people become confused about what the specific steps are: Preapproval, processing and underwriting are the most vital components of the process. These steps are truly dependent on a borrower's ability to get items in in a timely fashion. If we need documentation, the sooner you get it in, the faster your process will be. YOU are our priority but we need you to help us along the way until we get to the closing table.

A referral from a past client is the most rewarding piece of this for me. When I receive a referral, it means that someone thought highly of me and entrusted me to handle the transaction of someone they know. I am satisfied knowing that I have planted good seeds in the market which grow into new clients.
