Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
I wouldn't say I have a "typical" customer. I work with First Time Homebuyers all the way to experienced buyers on their 3rd or 4th home. I pride myself in treating all buyers the same and offering the same level of service! Buyers typically want to know "what's the rate" and "how much do I need to bring to close". These are great questions. My job is to educate consumers on what affects their rate and down payment, and choose a program that fits their monthly budget and available funds.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
Determining the best loan program for each client depends heavily on their credit history, income, funds available for down payment and reserves, and their monthly budget and goals as a buyer. Depending on these factors, we help the customer choose a loan program that is right for them that meets their needs.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
First, Many buyers believe you have to have a huge down payment to buy a house. Not true! Many borrowers use down payment options from 3.50% to 5.05% down. Second, you have to have a high income to buy a house. Not True! There are many programs for low to moderate income. Third, It's Hard to Qualify. We're here to help you through every stage of the process. It may seem intimidating at first, but we are on your side and we're dedicated to making you a homeowner.
What resources could you recommend that borrowers use to learn more about the mortgage process and how to ensure a successful home closing?
Follow the step by step process and what not to do's. Be vocal about questions and concerns so these can be addressed right away. Review your credit report often and ask LOTS of questions!
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
I love making the dream of home ownership a reality. That's the American Dream! I enjoy helping people reach their financial goals so they can live comfortably and focus their time on the important things: family, friends, and hobbies!
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
I love to Travel. Seeing the world is a deep passion of mine. I also love to spend time with my family boating and being outdoors!
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
I have a Master's Degree in Anthropology/Archaeology and before I got into Banking and Mortgage, I worked as an Archaeologist! I met my wife in Peru while we both worked on the same project!
