In our first conversation I gather information about their financial, employment and credit history, then we discuss their homeownership goals. Is it a first home? Is it a forever home? Or perhaps and investment property. Based on the information provided, I discuss loan options and explain the mortgage process.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
If you’re uncertain about your credit history, you can pull your credit once a year from each of the credit bureaus at www.annualcreditreport.com. One of the best first steps you can do is talk to a mortgage professional. Have them pull your credit just to get a starting point so that you know where you are and get advice on what you can do to be prepared to buy a home.
What can borrowers do to ensure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
Provide as much information as possible upfront. Reply quickly to any requests for additional documentation or e-signature to keep the process moving.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
Closing. There’s nothing more satisfying than helping a client achieve one of their goals---owning a home of their own.
