Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
Most of my clients are referrals from either past clients, or existing clients. People want to understand the process without being rushed, and to feel that their needs are being addressed. I work with the real estate agent of preference for all buyers and cooperate with all parties, to make the transaction go seamlessly.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
It is important to listen for short and long term plans, to be certain that the loan fits the client's needs.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
The paperwork required is often time consuming to provide in entirety. I look to take the frustration out of this process by clarifying what we actually need, vs asking for everything.
Credit history: Its important to know your rights and to be aware of items that could impact your scores.
The interest rate and loan terms offered are mostly based upon property type, equity and credit scores (the middle score out of three). Its not a one rate fits all situation.
What resources could you recommend that borrowers use to learn more about the mortgage process and how to ensure a successful home closing?
I recommend everyone run AnnualCreditReport.com once a year for accuracy; Do not request the scores, just the report for each bureau (there are three bureaus). Its Free.
I also recommend everyone to Opt Out from unsolicited mail, phone calls and emails: www.optoutprescreen.com
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
I am glad to provide clarity, patience and understanding for each client situation, whether it is simple or complicated.
Its important for everyone to be happy with the outcome.
