My typical client is a first time home buyer. The main questions they have are:
How do I begin this process?
Do I need 20% down?
What documents will you be needing?
Do I need 2 years of history with the same employer?
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
1. Listen to their goals...down payment, budget, closing costs...etc. Listen, listen, listen.
2. What are their plans for this home? 5 years, forever home, or what their eventual exit strategy will be.
3. Are they wanting to pay off debt or save on the amortization by reducing the terms?
Listening and asking qualifying questions helps me recommend loan products.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
Its is very difficult to buy a home now.
Mortgage companies do not care about clients.
I need have to have a big down payment or assets to buy a home.
What resources could you recommend that borrowers use to learn more about the mortgage process and how to ensure a successful home closing?
The main component of a successful transaction is communication. Clients should never shy away from asking questions. It is my duty as VP of Mortgage Lending to make sure the trust, confidence and rapport has been established. Also, the internet has a wealth of information now regarding the home buying process.

Hiking, camping, fishing and traveling. I enjoy learning about other cultures.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
I love to do pretty much anything outdoors now. With that being said, that has helped me lose 45 lbs in the last 16 months and cure a disease that I was told could not be cured. I'm a big believer in fasting and natural remedies.
