Picking the right loan program can have a major impact on how a family grows financially. This is the part of the process I take most seriously. Reviewing my "4 Steps to Financial Freedom" helps home buyers see which loan program will best suit their goals - both short and long term. That conversation is what differentiates me from many other Loan Originators in the mortgage industry.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
Cash is king. Having money in savings is the key to safety. When the housing crisis hit, the overwhelming reason so many people lost their homes was because they didn't have money readily available to them: their "wealth" was all tied up in their homes and their retirement accounts. Keeping a house payment affordable so money can go into savings every month is critical to financial security.
What resources could you recommend that borrowers use to learn more about the mortgage process and how to ensure a successful home closing?
Nothing can replace an actual conversation. Everyone's situation is unique, and the mortgage process needs to be tailored specifically each and every time. Having a thorough conversation initially, and keeping in touch every step of the way is the only way to meet expectations and have happy home buyers at closing.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
We love spending time at our cabin in Northwestern Wisconsin. Buying a second home is one of the best decisions we've made for our family! I love helping other families do the same, because it's about nothing but fun.
