Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
I cannot say I have a typical customer as I work with clients who are first time home buyers to seasoned clients purchasing million dollar homes. What type of service, education and communication are the main questions I receive from my customers. In addition, I handle reverse mortgages, and ensure that this product is right for them at this stage of their life.
Tell us about a specific challenging borrowing situation and how you got the mortgage closed and funded.
One of my clients who owned several corporations was purchasing a new primary residence. In addition, most of their assets were tied to their business and they needed additional reserves for their loan. We identified they had cash value in their life insurance account which we were able to use for their reserves. This loan closed in 22 days as another lender was not able to complete this loan. The client switched over to Guaranteed Rate and we were able to close their loan.
What resources could you recommend that borrowers use to learn more about the mortgage process and how to ensure a successful home closing?
Guaranteed Rate offers several brochures with homebuyer educational materials, which can be found on my website. In addition, there are first time home buyer courses that the borrower can attend, both online and in person, to help them prepare for home ownership.
Are you active in any local associations or community groups, and at what level? What goals and/or success have you helped these groups achieve?
Currently, I have been a member of the Downtown Auburn Rotary since 2010. During this time, I have chaired the annual BBQ, which raises money (over $40,000) for local scholarships for graduating high school seniors, supports local charities and on an international scale, the organization is close to eradicating POLIO. Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
As I always consider each loan as my own, I always want to make sure that my customer receives prompt replies to their questions. I have been known to respond to their questions at all hours of the day. This includes at 2 am in the morning!
