Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
My typical customer is the first time home buyer or the move up buyer that is looking for more space for an expanding family. The typical questions are how much money is needed for a down payment, can we buy a new house while keeping our current one, how much can we qualify for, and when do we need to get pre-approved in relation to when we will be searching for a home.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
I take an educational and advisory approach to my job. I believe that by educating the customer on how the mortgage process works, how the payments are made up, what the total costs not only monthly but over the life of the loan will be, that after presenting different loan options to the clients they will be able to chose the loan that best fits their needs.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
The three top misconceptions people have are that they need a large down payment, that home ownership is more expensive than renting, and that they can't buy a new property if they already own a current one.
What resources could you recommend that borrowers use to learn more about the mortgage process and how to ensure a successful home closing?
I tell them to use me as a resource. I explain my cell is always near me and I am available 7 days a week via call, text, or email. If they have questions, to ask them and that if they follow the steps we lay out for them, everything will go well.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
The thing that is most satisfying about my job is turning renters into homeowners. Only slightly behind that is educating people about the power of long term wealth building potential through buying and holding real estate.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
The things I enjoy most out of work are spending time with my wife Kara and my daughter Sloane, playing golf, staying active, and trying new restaurants around Nashville.
