Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
I have been fortunate enough to help a diverse range of clients with their own unique circumstances and expectations. From the first time home buyer, to clients purchasing their dream home, and everything in between. My knowledge of the various loan programs has allowed me to effectively assist each unique client, while providing excellent customer service.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
I evaluate each client individually, get to know them on a more personal level, and gain an understanding of their needs and expectations. By doing this, I am able to evaluate their circumstances and structure their loan to best suit them individually.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
The biggest one is eligibility, and what is required to be eligible for the different loan programs available to them. Second, and along those lines, a lot of borrowers assume that they will need 20% down to purchase a home, when there are multiple down payment options including: 100% financing, 3%, 3.5%, 5%, etc. It my job to determine which of these programs best suits each client individually. The last thing that is commonly misconceived is the breakdown of closing costs, who is required to pay them, and the different options borrowers have on covering closing costs. It goes back to borrowers using their loan officer and real estate agent as resources throughout the mortgage process.
What resources could you recommend that borrowers use to learn more about the mortgage process and how to ensure a successful home closing?
I think it is very important to for borrowers to utilize their loan officer and real estate agent. As loan officers, we work hand in hand with your real estate agent to provide borrowers with the best opportunity to achieve home ownership.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
The most satisfying experience I have in this career, and in ANY career I've had, is when our goals have been accomplished and we're sitting at the closing table getting keys to their new home. Second to that, is being able to tell clients that they are preapproved to buy a home, or providing clients with the means to get preapproved.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
When you can't find me assisting clients through the home buying process, you can usually find me spending time with my beautiful girlfriend and her daughter, Neyland Stadium in the fall, out on the farm with my family, or travelling around the Southeast.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
I'm a very light hearted person, and I attempt to mitigate stress for both myself and clients by joking around. Life is serious enough, buying a home is serious enough, why not bring a little laughter into it?
Also, I have rediscovered my passion for child-like games, building legos, drawing, Nintendo, bike riding, board games - all thanks to my girlfriend's daughter, Maddy.
