How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
10 years +++ and finding an industry where I could assist people in the home buying process was what made me excited to be in this business.
Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
My typical customer is a young 30 something and they want me to help them in understanding how to get into a house of their own.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
By taking a hands on approach into their income and finances and tailoring a home loan program that makes sense from a monthly cash flow basis as well as for a lifetime .
How long have you been in the mortgage business? What awards have you won?
How has the mortgage industry changed since you started, and what would you expect in the future?
I got into the mortgage business at the tail end of the meltdown and what I saw at that time was madness. The ability to be able lend money to individuals who could simply "make up" answers to questions that would ultimately net them hundreds of thousands of dollars made no sense to me. I expect the future to be regulated to the point that it is now, which might be a little over regulated, but will lead to a secure place for our country to buy homes from.
What can borrowers do to ensure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
My advice to all my customers is to send myself and the processing staff as much information as possible. By doing so we are able to not have to contact them as much and ensure the process is running smoothly. The less we have to hassle them, the cleaner the process feels to them. Obviously for us it can be a grind, but the easier we can make it on the customer the better.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
In my spare time I enjoy taking my wife and daughters to the beach and out for dinner afterwards. If it is just some "me time" I do like playing softball, golf, & going to sporting events.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
I was raised in single parent household by my father. That was a tough upbringing at times, but it forced me at a young age to be able to fend for myself and understand what was needed to become a man and have the things for my family that my father wasn't able to afford me.
