Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
My typical customers are savvy 1st time buyers that are looking for great advice, efficient support and a solid team behind to them attain home ownership in an extremely competitive environment.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
Initially I like to have an intro call to run numbers at a high level. Followed by an application with supporting documentation. After I review their docs, I firm up their options and send over scenarios. We schedule a follow up call to review the scenarios to confirm their understanding to help them zero in on what's comfortable.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
1) Rate is everything!
2) Getting a mortgage from the place they bank will make the process easier, because they "already have everything." This is 100% never the case.
3) When the Fed lowers rates, that means mortgage rates are lower.
What resources could you recommend that borrowers use to learn more about the mortgage process and how to ensure a successful home closing?
I would always recommend an in depth conversation with an experienced originator. Many pitfalls can be uncovered during that call, as well as advice on the best loan structure.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
Teaching first time home buyers about different loan products, helping them win during the offer process and getting them across the finish line happy.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
I enjoy getting my work done, so that I can spend time with my wife and our 20 month old son, Mateo. We have a super close family and just love being together. Family is what makes the hard work worth it to me.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
I love to cook and I'm an espresso freak. I love taking cooking classes and I even took a 3 hour espresso and latte art class in San Francisco last year. When I'm not working on loans, I'm cooking for my family and whipping up delicious coffees for my wife and her parents.
