Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
First time home buyers, current clients buying second homes, and/or investment properties. I also work with clients looking to refinance their property to lower the rate, or take cash out for debt consolidation, or home improvements. Customers questions: What do you think the best product for me is per my current situation? How long will the process take? What is your best rate that you can offer?
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
I ask them several questions pertaining to their specific goals; how long do they plan on staying in the home, payment goals, how much money do they have to put down for a down payment ( if a purchase).
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
The lender asks for too many documents
The lender will not close on time
Not enough communication/updates during the loan process
What resources could you recommend that borrowers use to learn more about the mortgage process and how to ensure a successful home closing?
I hesitate to have my client's go online for any information. I think online info can be more negative, than positive. I personally like to explain the timeline of a loan, and what to expect from application to closing. I will also emphasize what needs to be accomplished to achieve a successful closing!
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
The best part of my job is watching the smile on my client's face when they become homeowners! It is one of the biggest accomplishments in a lifetime, and the most satisfying part of my job.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
I studied literature and acting/directing in college. I fell into a lending position back in the late 90's, and I have never looked back. I love movies, and hope to write my own screenplay one day!
