All clients are different and many who are financing or refinancing a home ask questions related to the down payment (for the purchase) or total costs that they should expect. The answers are as different as the clients' unique situation yet I will always seek out the most cost-effective approach to accomplishing their goals.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
Asking questions and then digging a bit deeper on subjects such as: how long they plan on owning the house or what plans the client has for the future will help to custom tailor a loan program that will fit their needs.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
I've found that some people believe that qualifying for a loan is cumbersome and time-consuming. Actually the process at Guaranteed Rate is super simple and I personally use my expertise to expedite the process. If you have around 15 minutes you can get a loan started pretty easily. A huge misconception is that clients who refinance MUST reset their loan term on a refinance and go back to a 30 year fixed loan. This isn't always the case. In fact, in most cases, given the low rates these days, qualified buyers could potentially shorten the term and keep the payment about the same or even less depending on their individual scenario. Every one is different and their needs are different. That's where a mortgage expert comes in handy. Many folks believe that they will need stellar credit scores to qualify for a mortgage loan. I personally work with these clients and our goal is to find the right program for them in order to get them great terms on a mortgage loan that meets their needs. Don't count yourself out before exploring all of your options. It could be possible that you too can own the home you've always dreamed of.

What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
Helping folks to become a first-time buyer, finance the perfect home for their family or even refinancing a client's home to get them in a better financial position is the most rewarding part of this job. Meeting new people and sharing time together during the process is an added bonus.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
In my spare time, I enjoy traveling to new places with my family and exploring. Each year we plan a special trip to someplace new and try all the foods and all the unique things to do. We are also avid Disney fans and annual passholders and spend a lot of time at the Walt Disney World parks. Really, anything with my family is my favorite thing to do.
