Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
My typical client is someone that is in need of financing to purchase a home, or someone seeking to refinance an existing mortgage. We serve every type of buyer, from those purchasing their first home, to seasoned real estate investors.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
To ensure we always help our clients find the best home loan for their unique situation, we will intentionally walk them through our thorough step by step process. This is where our experience becomes your advantage, as we ask the right questions, at the right time, every time.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
1) "You can click a button and get a mortgage." - This is great marketing, and something that would be pretty cool if true, but the reality is getting a home loan is a complicated thing. I saw an advertisement the other day for a hospital that has robots doing major medical procedures. Would you prefer a robot or a person if you needed such an important procedure? Mortgages can end up almost as painful if done wrong. Look for Technology being driven by a Human for sure, not visa versa.
2) "A down payment is my only expense when purchasing a home." - I wish this was the case, however in most instances the borrower will also have to have money for closing costs, pre-paids, appraisals and home inspections. In the old days people that did mortgages use to hid a lot of fees from the borrower, but in today's mortgage world the laws make things transparent. Despite the transparency, things can still be complicated, so a great loan officer will take their time explaining all costs to you associated with buying a home. You usually won't be able to do anything about the costs, but it is very important that you at least understand where all the money is going.
3) "I need at least 20% down in order to purchase a home." - Absolutely not true. There are a wide variety of loan programs available with many different down payment options. Best way to find out your options is to call me today.
What resources could you recommend that borrowers use to learn more about the mortgage process and how to ensure a successful home closing?
Find a knowledgeable and professional loan officer. The journey to becoming a home owner is not one your should ever take alone. You need a team of industry professionals around you who will protect and guide you through the complicated process of buying a home. The first player you should draft on your team is your loan officer. A great loan officer will patiently teach you, wisely advise you and intentionally guide you every step of the way.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
The favorite part of my job, and what provides me with the most satisfaction, is that I get to help individuals and families realize the dream of home ownership. I agree that home ownership is the bedrock of the American Dream, and I take great pride in my responsibilities as a loan officer for this reason above all else.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
