What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
When working with a client, it is extremely important to identify their long and short term financial goals. This is the only way to successfully provide the perfect options that will best fit their needs and goals.
Tell us about a specific challenging borrowing situation and how you got the mortgage closed and funded.
I am often contacted by a Realtor, or an Attorney, that needs help for their buyer. Most recently, the buyer had gone against the advice of their real estate agent, and used a family friend for financing. 2 weeks before the closing date was to occur, the buyer was told they did not qualify. The buyer was understandably devastated, and disappointed. The real estate agent contacted me to see if I could "be the knight in shining armor and save the day." Well, we did! I say we, because I have an outstanding team behind me, and with out them, I would not be nearly as successful as I am today.
What can borrowers do to ensure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
The myth out there right now is that you must put 20% down to purchase a home. This couldn't be further from the truth! With as little as 3.5% down, you can be a proud home owner! To ensure a smooth process, when we ask for documentation, please provide it as soon as possible. The document may seem redundant, or tedious, and many times I would agree that it is. However, if my underwriter is asking for it, we need it. This will ensure a smooth, seamless process, and a quick path to the end goal, the closing table!
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family. There has to be a balance between work, family, and health, this is absolutely essential. I am currently the active Director of the local little league, and I also Manage my 9 year old girl's softball team.
