How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I've been in the mortgage industry for over 12 years. I've loved being able to educate people on home buying. From first-time home buyers to seasoned homeowners that are upside down on their mortgage: The great thing about this industry there are still products available to help benefit people.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
I would advise new homebuyers to make sure you know how much you can afford to buy. This is one of the largest purchases that we will make in our lives. It's also a good idea to establish a budget before starting to look at homes. This way you will know what you can comfortably afford. Often you can qualify for more home than you will feel comfortable buying. Knowing and sticking to the budgeted amount will help you in the long run.
What can borrowers do to ensure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
Today's mortgage underwriting process is all about documentation. The biggest hold up in the process tends to be when borrowers piece mail their “homework items” and do not send them in to the office in a timely fashion. Keeping this in mind, sending in all the requested documentation on time can make the process go smoother.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
I love walking and listening to music. Taking long walks and listening to good music helps to stimulate the mind, body and soul.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
Along with being a mortgage loan originator, I love to travel. I like to travel to places where I have never been and meeting people I have never known.
