Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
I don't have a typical customer. Most customers come from past customer referrals and new customer realtor leads. Since I have been in the business so long my past customers needs and typically their referrals needs are quite different from what I have been dealing with more recently which has been new or first time home buyers who really need a complete understanding of the home loan/buying process. I enjoy working with these customers because they are usually younger and appreciate the patience and time I take to help them understand the process and explain what options are available to them and what is required of them to get from contract to closing. I feel fortunate that I have so many different types of clients it is never the same and keeps it interesting and keeps me up on new programs and options for all of my clients. I take the time to explain everything that is needed to make the transaction as smooth and painless as possible.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
Ask questions, listen to there answers, then try to match the program to there needs and desires. Also set the correct expectation for what to expect. Customers talk to friends and family and every customers situation and experience is different. Not everyone has the same credit score, down payment, income etc. I try to educate clients that just because your neighbor got a particular type of loan that doesn't mean it is the best suited loan for you or if it is even available to you.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
Just because you make enough money to make the payment you will be approved for the loan.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
Help people realize and accomplish one of the top 3 most significant life-changing moments and being a big part of that process. Getting married, having children, and buying a home can be the most stressful life-altering events but they are also the exciting and joyful times of your life as well. I take pride in being part of that and doing everything in my power to assure that the home buying process is stress-free and enjoyable. Once completed I want them to be nothing but ecstatic and happy with the entire process. That is very fulfilling to be part of those transactions.
