Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
My typical customer is anyone from a new homeowner to a retiree. Usually, most people want to know what the bottom line is on fee's and out of pocket expenses.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
It's important to ask questions to find out what the goal really is and then cater to that topic. If paying off debt is your main goal, then taking additional cash out after the debts are paid are probably not going to interest you.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
That they have to pay for closing costs out of pocket, that having a 30-year loan means they need to keep it for 30 years, and that we need every document about their life ever created.
What resources could you recommend that borrowers use to learn more about the mortgage process and how to ensure a successful home closing?
Read up on the 10 mortgage commandments.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
Helping someone that thought they couldn't be helped. It's very gratifying to speak with someone who says they were denied prior and finding a way to make it work for them.
