How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I have been in the mortgage business since 2002. I was inspired to get into the mortgage industry after watching my father lead a successful career in the same field. I love helping people follow their dream of becoming home owners, whether they are first time homebuyers, buying a vacation house or refinancing. I also specialize in new construction and work with many great builders. This business is my passion and I am always working on perfecting my system to make the mortgage process as smooth as possible.
What are the pros and cons of a fixed rate mortgage versus an adjustable rate mortgage (ARM)?
There are pros and cons with a fixed rate mortgage versus an adjustable rate mortgage (ARM), especially for first time homebuyers. The low initial cost of adjustable-rate mortgages, or ARMs, can be very tempting to home buyers, yet they carry a degree of uncertainty. Fixed-rate mortgages offer rate and payment security, but they can be more expensive. With the right information, whether it is a refinance or a new home purchase, I can help my customers pick the best mortgage that meets their financial goals.
What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
The most common issue I have found during the home loan process is usually when we are gathering the initial documentation. Whether you are a first time home buyer, doing a 203K loan, or buying an investment property, it is always important that you gather all the documentation upfront so that we don\'t have to piece mail the documentation to our underwriter later. During the 10 years I have been in the business I have learned to thoroughly analyze the initial loan application and list all items that will be needed as we move through the loan process. I send an email and tell them over the phone every piece of information that will be needed and help them fully understand the importance of the initial documentation.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
Nothing gives me more satisfaction than being at the closing table for a home buyer as they close on their new home. I love being a part of that interaction and listening as the buyers go through the things that they will do to the home over the next several months. I love to see them walk away from the closing table knowing that everything on the settlement statement was the same as what was quoted to them. I especially enjoy seeing the new home owners receive the keys to their new home.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
Along with being a mortgage broker, I am an avid snowboarder. I love to get up on the mountain and relieve the stress that I may be feeling at that time. Most of all, I love my two children and if I\'m not at the office I am typically with them finding dirt to roll around in or water to swim in.
