Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
I've worked with all levels of borrowers; from first-timers to commercial investors, and no matter how experienced the borrower, they all want to know the steps of the process and where they are in their transaction. They want to be able to get me or a member of my team on the phone to ask questions and get answers. Communication and responsiveness are key to my customers and my business.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
Do your homework, team up with great partners and be prepared. Preparation and the people you work with can make the difference between getting your dream home and losing it to another buyer.
What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
The documentation required to process a loan can be overwhelming. We gather a tremendous amount of paperwork from borrowers, and each time we receive something weýve requested, it may trigger the need to ask for something else. This is a normal part of the process and with some explanation and a little coaching up front, the documentation process can be a lot smoother.

What can borrowers do to ensure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
The underwriting process is much smoother when we have the necessary documentation upfront. This way, the underwriter sees all of the details and we can avoid unnecessary approval conditions which could lead to more questions and more conditions.
Summary of where you grew up: family, affiliations, college, high school, etc.
I grew up in Montana and graduated from Arizona State University. For the 24 years that followed, I lived all over the world as a Air Force spouse. I love working VA loans for my military alumni!
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
I'm a competitive person so I love getting a loan done that another loan officer couldn't do; however, I get the most satisfaction from my borrowers at the closing table. Most recently, one borrower said, "My friends and family said this was going to be hard. I kept waiting for it to get more difficult!" Happy customers and a job well done are my biggest motivators.

I used to be a radio DJ and went by the name "Shay Taylor."
