Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
Everyone looking for a mortgage has unique circumstances about their situation. There isn't a typical customer. I enjoy working with first time homebuyers who don't even know what a mortgage is to customers I have worked with for years who send documents before I even know they're looking for another property. All customers want to know they will get straight answers and honest information to any question or situation that may come up along the way.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
I take a financial planning approach to the lending process. It is easy to process a mortgage, but it requires a greater vision to plan and set goals, as best you can, for what life will bring years down the road. Will this home eventually be a rental? Will a customer's job require a relocation in a few years? Will income increase to afford the opportunity to pay down the mortgage or invest in other properties in a few years? Asking questions gets the customer to view this as part of the big picture and not just this small moment in time right now.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
The greatest satisfaction is when I am sitting at the closing table and customers comment how painless and simple it was to get to that point. Applying for a mortgage can be a very stressful process for most people, but it doesn't have to be. They are bearing every aspect of their finances to someone who sometimes is a complete stranger. Honesty and transparency into the mortgage process through excellent communication does wonders to ease the stress of something most people only do a handful of times in their lives.
The relationship we each have with our families is the most important and treasured gift. And, our homes are the center of where our families gather. Our homes are where we raise children, celebrate milestones, and entertain other family and friends. To have even a small part by helping with the mortgage process has always been a humbling and very rewarding process.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
Tim is married to his beautiful wife, Nonie, and spends his time outside of work trying to keep up with his three children. He enjoys skiing, hiking, and running, and like any good Coloradoan loves to spend time outdoors pursuing all our great state has to offer.
