How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I have been in the industry for 23 years. My mother was in the mortgage business. I watched her help families when I was a child and her passion for each transaction was incredibly inspiring. She instilled the values of homeownership, giving back to others, and financial independence at an early age with me and my brothers. I knew I wanted a career helping people achieve their goals, so the mortgage business was a perfect fit for me.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
A first-time home purchase can be overwhelming. I would advise all first-time home buyers to find expert professionals to walk you through the process. Use a knowledgeable Real Estate Agent and Mortgage Lender to ensure you understand the transaction and have the confidence to make informed decisions. I always recommend taking the time to get pre-approved, you will be well prepared to make your offer when the time comes.
What can borrowers do to ensure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
First and foremost, work with a qualified mortgage professional. Communicate any changes to the transaction promptly and provide all documentation as timely as possible.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
Hands down, spending time with my family. I have a 13 year old son, 10 year old daughter, 9 year old stepson and 7 year old stepson that keep me smiling. We also have 2 dogs, a toad and 2 hermit crabs that we call family. I love to cook for everyone, enjoy movie nights at home, spending time outdoors, and traveling as much as possible.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
I absolutely love cooking. I spend most weekends cooking for family and friends and prepping for the week. Food is love in my family and cooking is my stress relief and the kitchen is my happy place. I never see cooking as a chore – it is fun and relaxing for me!
