Anwar serves as General Counsel and is the head of the legal team at Rate. In this role, he oversees all legal operations and functions of the company. Anwar is a seasoned lawyer with almost 17 years of experience in the legal field and has been with Rate for eight years.

Anwar earned his law degree from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, graduating summa cum laude in 2006. He began his career as a litigator with Jenner & Block, LLP, a national litigation powerhouse, where he was a member of the complex commercial litigation group and the white-collar crime and government investigations team. Anwar then moved on to Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, another top national law firm, where he represented Fortune 500 companies in litigation matters across the United States. In both roles, he was trained by some of the top trial lawyers and litigators in the country.

Anwar strongly identifies with Rate's Core Value #5 of having grit, which emphasizes the importance of persistence in the face of challenges and the ability to pivot and never give up no matter the obstacles or odds.

Outside of work, Anwar enjoys reading and learning about a wide range of topics, from military strategy and philosophy to health and wellness. He is a proud father and loves spending time with his wife and two daughters, ages 8 and 6. Prior to joining Rate, Anwar did pro bono work representing individuals in criminal trial and appeals, as well as victims of domestic violence in seeking orders of protection. He also remains active in the legal community, serving on panels covering a wide variety of topics and contributing to professional associations like the Arab American Bar Association of Illinois.
