Anwar serves as General Counsel and leads the legal team at Rate, where he takes a highly engaged and execution-focused approach to supporting the business. He oversees all legal operations and functions while remaining closely involved in the day-to-day legal challenges facing the company. Working directly with leadership, product, and commercial teams, Anwar is deeply embedded in the execution of key initiatives, providing practical, real-time guidance as Rate continues to grow its fintech platform.

Anwar earned his law degree summa cum laude from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law in 2006. He began his legal career as a litigator at Jenner & Block LLP, a nationally recognized litigation powerhouse, where he worked in the complex commercial litigation group and the white-collar crime and government investigations practice. He later joined Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, representing Fortune 500 companies in high-stakes, bet the company litigation matters across the United States. In both roles, Anwar was mentored by some of the nation’s most respected trial lawyers, shaping his rigorous, relentless and results-driven approach to legal problem-solving.

Outside of work, Anwar is an avid reader with broad interests spanning health and wellness, current events, and fiction. A proud father, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their two daughters. Prior to joining Rate, Anwar was deeply committed to pro bono service, representing clients in criminal trials and appeals and assisting victims of domestic violence in securing protection orders. He remains actively engaged in the legal community, frequently participating in industry panels and professional forums.
