I have been in the mortgage industry for almost 10 years, but before I started down this path, I graduated from Texas Christian University in 2001. I was lucky enough to receive a baseball scholarship and I ended up with a Bachelor of Science degree. So, it makes perfect sense to end up in finance. I was raised in Irvine, CA and lived in Fort Worth while attending TCU. After I graduated, I headed back to Irvine because the weather in TX changes every 20 minutes. Once my wife and I started a family of our own we looked to relocate out of state. I was out mowing the yard on a hot CA day and my neighbor at the time wanted to tell me about his road trip that meandered through the state of Idaho. All I remember from that conversation was 4 words, “You will love it.” To prove him wrong we decided to fly out to Boise and have a horrible time. Sadly, he was right. We did love the area, the people, the open spaces, the rivers and the pace of life. We flew home after 5 days of exploring and the very next day there was a sign in my yard and the house was for sale. From the day the sign went in the yard to the time we backed up a u-haul into our driveway in ID was 35 days. I could go on and on, but the bottom line is I have been in your shoes. I had to save money and pinch pennies for the down payment of a home. I had to make 17 offers before we closed on our first home. I have refinanced to finish home improvement projects.
