Guaranteed Rate Expands Community Outreach Efforts Nationwide
CHICAGO (Jan. 7, 2014) – Guaranteed Rate, one of the ten largest retail mortgage companies in the nation, announced that it has hired a new director of community outreach to lead community service efforts and build relationships with local grassroots projects near the company’s approximately 170 offices nationwide.
Lee Becton recently joined Guaranteed Rate in this new role. In this position, he’ll help build awareness of Guaranteed Rate’s community outreach programs among each branch, serve as a liaison to key non-profit organizations, and work with major corporate partners, building and housing groups, and trade unions to increase participation in the company’s service initiatives.
Being connected to the community has been a hallmark of Guaranteed Rate since its founding in 2000 through programs based at its Chicago headquarters, including the annual Disco Dash race to support The Peapod Project, funding scholarships and supporting employees in times of family hardship through the Guaranteed Rate Foundation, and donating turkeys to local food pantries at Thanksgiving. As the company has grown, individual branches around the country have developed their own community service projects, such as an annual fundraiser at Guaranteed Rate’s Franklin, Mass., location that benefits victims of domestic violence. Becton will be looking to expand on those efforts at the national level and grow the company’s relationships with groups that help others.
“We’re excited to have Lee join us to help further our community service tradition,” said Victor Ciardelli, president and CEO of Guaranteed Rate. “I’ve always believed strongly that Guaranteed Rate will not just provide excellent customer service for people looking for a mortgage, but that we’ll also commit to make the cities around the country that we call home better places to live.”
Prior to joining Guaranteed Rate, Becton was director of sales for home improvement lending at Admirals Bank in Providence, R.I. He also previously served as managing partner at J.D. Byrider and as mortgage broker for Lenders Plus, Inc. He holds a degree in business management from the University of Notre Dame, where he captained the football team his senior year as a running back. He still holds the school record for the most-consecutive 100-yard games, and was named the most valuable player of the 1993 Cotton Bowl. He played football professionally with the Green Bay Packers, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League, and the Sydney City Roosters in Australia.
