7 spring break destinations for the family
Spring break is the ultimate opportunity to get out of the cold, let loose and have some family fun. But planning the perfect spring break getaway can be stressful, and it starts with picking the perfect location that has enough options for the entire family. Here are seven spring break destinations across the United States to consider if you’re planning your family vacation:
1. Orlando
Whether you’re young or old, Orlando has something for everyone. The obvious destination is Disney World which, as the “Happiest Place on Earth,” is always a good vacation spot. But there’s also Universal Studios and SeaWorld to explore. If theme parks aren’t your thing, there are also plenty of golf courses, shopping, spas and nightlife around town if you’re seeking a more mature spring break getaway.
2. New York City
If a big city is what you’re looking for, then there aren’t many options better than The Big Apple. Sure, the weather might not be quite as warm as Florida or California, but it’s tough to beat the entertainment, shopping, sightseeing and dining options around the city. Plus, the Empire State Building and Central Park are worth experiencing regardless of whether it’s chilly or mild outside.
3. San Diego
If consistent sunshine, warm temps and beaches are what you’re looking for, then San Diego might be the ultimate spring break destination for you. The weather is mostly glorious and Mission Beach, La Jolla and Coronado all offer unique beach experiences. Plus, the San Diego Zoo is one of the best in the nation, and so is the Mexican cuisine!
4. Hilton Head
Hilton Head is a 12-mile-long island just off the coast of South Carolina and Georgia. There’s something for everyone at Hilton Head, including excellent golf, tons of bike paths and unique activities such as crabbing. You also might be lucky enough to catch sight of some bottlenose dolphins!
5. Outer Banks
Not far from Hilton Head is Outer Banks, which is a historical beach just off the cost of North Carolina. Adventure reigns supreme in Outer Banks with activities such as fishing, windsurfing and wildlife watching. You can even explore thousands of shipwrecks on a scuba diving excursion, as well as the North Carolina Aquarium at Roanoke Island.
6. Grand Canyon
If a scenic landscape is what you’re seeking, then look no further than the Grand Canyon. This natural wonder should be on every American’s bucket list and is the perfect excursion for any family looking to take in some natural beauty through hiking, camping or rafting.
7. Honolulu, Oahu
Go big or stay home right? Oahu and the rest of the Hawaiian Islands truly are paradise, and perfect for anyone trying to find the ultimate getaway. The breathtaking beaches, particularly on the North Shore, are world-renowned and hiking opportunities like Diamond Head provide pristine views of the island’s unique geology. The capital city of Honolulu also offers urban adventures with historic landmarks as well as plenty of excellent restaurants and exhilarating nightlife.
